James Nieves

I grew up in San Francisco and began my career as a flight attendant, a role that fueled my love of travel and even took me to live in Prague, where I discovered my passion for wine over my first glass of Moravian Frankovka. My path into the industry began soon after in San Francisco’s Financial District, working for a brokerage company selling wines from around the world. I later joined a Bay Area start-up in direct-to-consumer wine sales, where I became the top producer and played a key role in the company’s early growth.

Today, I serve as Director of Sales, Marketing & Operations for both Malk Family Vineyards and Peirson Meyer, winemaker Robbie Meyer’s personal label. In these roles I work closely with Robbie to guide the vision and direction of both wineries and ensure our limited-production wines reach the right audience.

Outside the wine world, I’m a proud father of two teenage daughters, which has slightly increased my wine intake. My approach to wine and life is summed up by my favorite expression: “Why wait for a special moment?
