Winemaker Tasting Notes Malk Stags Leap District
The 2009 Malk Family Vineyards Stag's Leap Cabernet is a pleasure from start to finish. It's deep, dark red appearance offers a first glimpse of its rich and lively nature. The nose is filled with many of the attributes that have become signatures of this wine...vanilla-spice, sweet chocolate, and ripe blackberry and currant. The 2009 also offers interesting mineral notes of crushed gravel and even notes of the loamy and volcanic soils in which the grapes are grown. More delicate aromas of paper whites and lavender come and go as they mix with hints of fresh tobacco leaf and cedar. While the weighty palate is incredibly supple, there is plenty of concentration in this wine to carry it for many years of enjoyment.
